The Chelbesa Danche coffee is a standout representation of the Yirga Cheffe region, known for its clean, floral cup profile and well-balanced sweetness and acidity. The dry fragrance features perfumed floral notes like rose, a hint of fresh herbs, and the subtle sweetness of raw sugars. When the cup starts to cool, tropical fruit notes emerge, including pineapple and passion fruit, while the wet aroma reveals tropical papaya, dried stone fruit, honey, and a delicate jasmine note. This coffee offers an aromatic cup with a deep sweetness that ties together its elegant top notes.
This coffee comes from Danche, a small hamlet in Chelbesa town, located in the Gedeb District. Grown at altitudes between 1900 and 2200 meters above sea level, it is produced in one of Gedeb’s largest coffee-growing areas. The Chelbesa washing station, built in 2019, is operated by SNAP Specialty Coffee and uses ceramic fermentation tanks, which are efficient and easy to clean. Nearly 500 local farmers contribute to its production. This fully washed, wet-process coffee showcases the clean, floral characteristics typical of Yirga Cheffe, with refined sweetness and a complex aroma when roasted light. While the site is certified organic, this specific lot was not purchased with certification.
